About the role

This Technician role sits within the Automotive Trade Department in the College of Engineering, Science & Technology at the Labasa campus. The position exists to support academic staff and students in laboratory and workshop settings, ensuring effective delivery of practical automotive trade instruction. The technician works as part of a team of academic, technical, and administrative colleagues to facilitate learning and the advancement of knowledge.

Key responsibilities

• Assist academic staff in preparing instructional materials for laboratory or workshop demonstrations and use
• Assist students with assignments related to light motor vehicle coursework
• Demonstrate techniques in the use of specialised automotive equipment
• May supervise the work of student assistants
• Perform related work as required to support the Automotive Trade Department

About the successful candidate

• Advanced Diploma or Diploma with at least 1 year of relevant experience, OR
• Trade Certificate or Certificate IV with at least 3 years of relevant experience
