Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information FijiCareers collects, why we collect it, how it is used and shared, and the choices you have. It covers job seekers, employers, and recruiters using the Service, and should be read alongside our Terms of Use.
1. Who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information FijiCareers collects when you use our website and app (the "Service"), why we collect it, how it is used and shared, and the choices available to you. It applies to:
- job seekers searching or applying for jobs;
- employers and recruiters who register an account, post, or sponsor a listing;
- users who rate a recruiter in the Recruiters directory; and
- anyone who contacts us, including through the Contact page or legal@fijicareers.com.
This Policy should be read together with our Terms of Use.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us directly
- Employer and recruiter accounts: email address and password (or magic-link sign-in), company or agency name, billing contact name, billing email, phone number (optional), business tax identification number (Fiji Business TIN or overseas company tax ID for invoices), email notification preferences, job listing content (title, description, location, category, pay if provided, application link or onsite-apply settings, logo and banner images), optional public employer-page details (slug, tagline, website, logo, header image, header background color preference, about, HQ location), and payment or invoice reference details for sponsorship. Card payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers on the Service.
- Job seekers: no account is required to search jobs or to apply via an employer's own site (click-out Apply). If you apply on FijiCareers for a job where the employer collects applications on the Service (onsite Apply), we collect your name, email address, phone number (if provided), resume file, cover letter (if provided), and answers to the employer's application questions, so we can deliver that application to the hiring employer. If you choose to create an optional job-seeker account, we collect the email address and password you set (or sign-in identifier), an optional display name, any recruiter star rating and comment you submit, saved job-search filters, whether you have turned on email alerts for each saved search, optional profile details you enter (such as phone, preferred location, headline, skills, and experience), a resume you upload to your account (separate from any onsite Apply resume), email notification preferences, whether you opt into Talent Search so registered employers can find you in the Job Seeker Database, and which profile fields you choose to share.
- Anyone who contacts us: your name, email address, and the content of your message, whether sent through the Contact page or to legal@fijicareers.com.
Talent Search / Job Seeker Database (optional)
Talent Search is optional and separate from browsing Jobs in Fiji. Your profile is not searchable by employers until you turn Talent Search on. You control which fields (including your resume file) are shared. Opening your resume in Talent Search also shares the viewing employer's recruiting contact details with you, and we email you when an employer views your profile or opens your resume (unless you turn those alerts off).
Information we collect automatically
- Usage and event data: pages viewed, searches entered, filters used (location, category, job type), listings viewed, whether a listing was in a sponsored or organic position, listing clicks, outbound "Apply" clicks to an employer's site, and (where onsite Apply is used) application submissions and employer status changes. This is logged against a device or session identifier and, if you are signed in, your account.
- Technical data: approximate location derived from IP address (city or region level, not precise GPS location), device and browser type, operating system, referring page, and general session information such as session length.
We use this information first-party, on our own systems, primarily to run search, fix broken parts of the site, and understand which categories and locations have the most demand. Aggregate site-traffic metrics, such as overall visits and page views, are also processed on our behalf by Vercel Analytics, the hosting and analytics service we use to run the Service (see "Who we share information with" below).
Cookies and similar technology
We use cookies and similar browser storage for essential functions (keeping you signed in, remembering search filters within a session) and for the aggregate analytics described above. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site ad-retargeting pixels on the Service. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; blocking essential cookies may stop some parts of the Service working correctly.
3. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- show search results, job listings, recruiter directory entries, and Pay scale estimates;
- operate employer and recruiter accounts, sponsorship requests, invoices, and the Sponsored placement you paid for;
- when an employer chooses to collect applications on FijiCareers, receive, store, and show that employer the candidate's name, contact details, resume, cover letter, and application answers for the relevant listing;
- operate the Recruiters directory rating feature, including showing an average rating and moderating comments, and send email job alerts for saved searches where you have opted in;
- operate optional Talent Search: include your opted-in profile in the Job Seeker Database for registered employers, notify you when an employer views your profile or opens your resume, and share that employer's recruiting contact details with you when they open your resume;
- respond to messages sent through the Contact page or to legal@fijicareers.com;
- detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, fake ratings, and breaches of our Terms of Use;
- understand, in aggregate, which job categories, locations, and search terms have the most demand, so we can improve search, decide what to add to the site next, and (for employers) show how many people viewed or clicked a listing; and
- meet our legal, accounting, and tax obligations, including keeping invoice and payment records for sponsorship fees.
We may in future use aggregated, statistical information that does not identify any individual (for example, "searches for hospitality roles in Nadi rose this quarter") to publish general hiring-demand insights about Fiji. We do not sell individual-level personal information, such as a named person's search or application history, to any third party.
4. AI-assisted features
Some features, such as explaining a job listing in plain language, interpreting a messy search, suggesting similar roles, and helping an employer or recruiter draft a listing, are powered by AI language models supplied by Anthropic. Text you submit to those specific features, such as a search phrase or a draft job description, is sent to Anthropic's API to generate the response shown to you, and is processed under Anthropic's own data-handling terms for API customers.
We do not send your account password or billing details to an AI model. Resumes and application answers submitted through onsite Apply are stored for the hiring employer and are not sent to an AI model for that purpose. Avoid entering sensitive personal information into free-text or AI-assisted fields.
6. Data retention
- Account information (employer or recruiter profile, billing contact) is kept while the account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you return or to resolve a dispute, then deleted or anonymised, except where invoice, payment, or tax records must be kept longer under Fiji law.
- Onsite applications (name, contact, resume, cover letter, answers, status history) are kept while the employer's account needs them for hiring on that listing, and for a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted or anonymised, except where we must keep records longer for legal, dispute, or fraud-prevention reasons.
- Usage and event data (searches, clicks, impressions) is kept for a working default of up to 24 months from collection, after which it is deleted or reduced to aggregated, de-identified statistics that no longer identify an individual or session.
- Ratings and comments are kept while the recruiter listing is live, or until you ask us to remove your rating, whichever is earlier, subject to the moderation rules in our Terms of Use.
- Saved job searches, alert preferences, Talent Search profile fields, account resumes, share toggles, and related optional job-seeker account details are kept while your account is active or until you delete that data or close your account, whichever comes first, except where we must keep records longer for legal, dispute, or fraud-prevention reasons.
- Talent Search view logs (who viewed a profile or resume, and mutual contact snapshots shared on resume open) are kept for a working default of up to 24 months for abuse prevention and support, then deleted or anonymised.
7. Your choices and rights
- Access, correction, deletion: ask us, at legal@fijicareers.com, what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and associated personal information. We will action a verified request within a reasonable time, except where we need to keep certain records for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention reasons.
- Talent Search: turn Talent Search off, change share toggles, remove your account resume, or change email alert preferences at any time under Job Seeker My Account.
- Marketing: if we ever send optional marketing communications, you can opt out through the unsubscribe link in that message or by emailing us.
- Cookies: see the cookies section above for browser-level controls.
- Ratings: you can update or ask us to remove your own recruiter rating at any time.
8. International data transfers
FijiCareers operates from Fiji, but our infrastructure providers (Supabase, Vercel, Anthropic) run global cloud infrastructure, so personal information may be processed or stored on servers outside Fiji. We select providers that contractually commit to protecting personal information to a standard consistent with this Policy, and we limit what we send to each provider to what that feature needs to function.
9. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact legal@fijicareers.com and we will remove it.
10. Data security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including access controls that limit raw, individual-level data to team members who need it for product, engineering, or support work, and industry-standard hosting and authentication infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Third-party sites
Job listings, recruiter profiles, and any outbound link may take you to a third-party website, such as an employer's careers page, application form, or a recruiter's own site, that we do not control. Their collection and use of your information is governed by their own privacy policy, not this one. Review it before you provide any personal information. Where you apply on FijiCareers (onsite Apply), this Policy covers the information you submit here; the employer still decides how they use that application once they receive it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service changes. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when the current version took effect. Where a change is material, such as a new category of data we collect or a new third party we share it with, we will make reasonable efforts to flag it on the Service.
13. Contact us
Questions, requests, or complaints about this Privacy Policy or your personal information can be sent through our Contact page or to legal@fijicareers.com.
