About the role

This Instructor role is responsible for teaching aircraft maintenance engineering (mechanical) up to Level 4 Certificate or Level 6 Diploma standard within the Aviation Studies Department. The instructor is expected to maintain currency of their qualifications through ongoing industry engagement and take responsibility for their own professional development. Beyond classroom teaching, the role includes contributing to departmental administrative functions to help the Aviation Studies Department operate effectively. The position sits within the College of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences.

Key responsibilities

• Teach aircraft maintenance engineering (mechanical) up to Level 4 Certificate or Level 6 Diploma standard
• Engage with industry to maintain currency of qualifications and professional knowledge
• Take responsibility for ongoing professional development in the discipline
• Perform administrative duties to support the Aviation Studies Department
• Contribute to departmental operations and functions

About the successful candidate

• Trade Certificate in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (Mechanical/Avionic) OR Certificate in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (Level 4) or equivalent
• At least 7-8 years' experience in an approved aircraft maintenance organization (145C)
• Basic License LWTR
• Certificate in Teaching TVET (Level 5), Cert IV in Training & Assessment, National Certificate, or Diploma in Tertiary Teaching (or willingness to upgrade)
• Valid Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Human Factors training
• Desirable: Basic License/LAME with at least 1 type rating
• Desirable: active industry engagement and contribution to scholarship
• Desirable: university or community service
