About the role

This role performs basic radiography and examinations across various specialised imaging modalities that the technologist has been trained and assigned to work in. It ensures services follow departmental SOPs and protocols, requiring independent decisions on individual patients to achieve quality x-ray tests while complying with safe radiation protection practices. The position works closely with multidisciplinary hospital teams, including theatre, emergency and wards. It also involves after-hours shift work, on-call duties, and relieving or outreach assignments as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Performing requested examinations and activities in line with departmental protocols, safety procedures and guidelines
• Providing appropriate radiation protection to patients, attendant family, and staff
• Ensuring the work environment and equipment are clean and safe to use
• Recording necessary patient and procedure information while maintaining confidentiality and privacy
• Performing after-hours shift work, on-call duties, and responding to relieving and outreach duties promptly
• Providing guidance to X-ray technician attendants and participating in quality improvement programs
• Participating actively in quality assurance and image review
• Reporting equipment malfunctions and facility issues to management

About the successful candidate

• Bachelor of Medical Imaging Science or equivalent
• Registered and licensed with the Fiji Radiation Health Board and Fiji Society of Medical Imaging Technologist
• At least 5 years of technical working experience in General Radiography
• Knowledge of other speciality areas such as Ultrasound, CT, MRI and/or Mammogram, with ability to work unsupervised
• Knowledge of relevant laws and legislation applicable to radiology safety practices
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Demonstrated organizational and communication skills to work with people of diverse backgrounds
• Demonstrated IT and Microsoft Office skills to support department operations
