About the role

This Groundskeeper role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the visual appeal, safety, and functionality of outdoor spaces at Aspen Medical's Ba site. Duties span garden and lawn care, equipment operation, waste sorting, and basic carpentry and plumbing maintenance work. The role also involves preparing outdoor areas for changing weather conditions and responding to maintenance and emergency requests in line with standard procedures. The Groundskeeper is expected to follow OHS regulations, contribute to a safe and healthy workplace, and take reasonable care for their own safety and that of others.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing outdoor areas for various weather conditions by weatherproofing, covering outdoor furniture with tarps, and tying down unsecured items
• Maintaining gardens and lawns, including mowing, planting, fertilizing, weeding, soil conditioning, mulching and applying pesticides
• Operating and maintaining garden and landscaping equipment
• Sorting and clearing of clinical and non-clinical waste for proper disposal
• Ensuring all tools are operated properly and safely in compliance with OHS regulation
• Responding effectively and promptly to maintenance and emergency requests involving carpentry and plumbing work
• Participating in the development of a safe and healthy workplace and following safe work procedures
• Carrying out any other reasonable duties delegated by management

About the successful candidate

• Successful completion of Form 6 level or equivalent qualification
• 1-2 years' experience in a similar role
• Knowledge of gardening techniques and gardening products such as fertilizers and pesticides
• Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods of time
• Basic experience in carpentry and plumbing work, including handyman experience in a similar environment
• Basic knowledge of occupational health and safety at the workplace
• Ability to assess scope of work and make accurate estimates of materials needed
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as a team with minimal supervision
