About the role
This role leads the housekeeping team at Sheraton Resort & Spa Tokoriki Island Fiji, overseeing room cleaning standards and overall team performance. The Team Leader inspects guest rooms after cleaning, manages checklists and paperwork, and coordinates room assignments and cleaning types across the resort. The position combines hands-on housekeeping work with supervisory duties, including supporting hiring, training, scheduling, and motivating housekeeping staff. The Team Leader also acts as a role model, follows safety and security protocols, and looks for ways to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness within the department.
Key responsibilities
- Enter status of rooms cleaned and complete checklists to report cleanliness and condition of each assigned area
- Complete required housekeeping paperwork and identify room assignments and type of cleaning required
- Inspect guest rooms after being cleaned by housekeepers and respond promptly to requests from guests and other departments
- Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and motivating housekeeping employees; serve as a role model
- Follow all company, safety, and security policies; report maintenance problems, safety hazards, and accidents; complete safety training and certifications
- Welcome and acknowledge guests according to company standards; anticipate and address service needs
- Identify and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and cost-savings
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues; support team to reach common goals
About the successful candidate
- Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience in a hotel or similar environment preferred
- Basic understanding of cleaning standards, chemicals, and equipment use (training provided)
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests and colleagues
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Physical ability to perform repetitive tasks, stand for long periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and push/pull housekeeping carts
- Must have legal working rights in Fiji
