About the role

This Commis III role sits within the resort kitchen team, preparing ingredients and cooking food to set recipes, quality, and presentation standards. Duties cover the full prep-to-service cycle: washing and peeling produce, weighing and mixing ingredients, cooking and testing food for doneness, preparing cold foods, and plating correct portions. The role also involves setting up and breaking down the work station, operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers, and cleaning and disinfecting kitchen areas and tools. Associates are expected to check food and appliance temperatures, follow safety and security procedures, report hazards or maintenance issues, and complete required safety training. The role requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting or moving items up to 25 pounds throughout a shift, and working cooperatively with the wider kitchen team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food.
• Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables; weigh, measure, and mix ingredients.
• Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist.
• Prepare cold foods and operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
• Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently and monitor food quality while preparing food.
• Set up and break down work station; serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacles.
• Wash and disinfect kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment; check temperature correctness of appliances and food.
• Follow safety and security policies, report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions, and complete required safety training.

About the successful candidate

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
• At least 1 year of related work experience preferred.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No license or certification required.
• Able to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period or an entire work shift.
• Able to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
• Clear, professional communication and a cooperative approach to working with the team.
