About the role
This is a Twin Boom Jumbo Operator position within the Mineral Resources department at the Tuvatu site in Fiji, reporting to the Mine Manager. The role is responsible for operating a mechanised hydraulic or electric Jumbo drill to mark up and drill patterns according to mine instruction plans, ensuring holes meet design line, gradient, and profile requirements. The operator will assess ground conditions at the face and implement appropriate ground control measures, while coordinating with surveyors, geologists, and engineers to optimise drilling. The role also requires adherence to Lion One's Code of Conduct and active participation in the site's Safety, Health, Environment and Community (SHEC) standards.
Key responsibilities
- Competently perform bolting, meshing, and boring tasks
- Accurately mark up and drill several drill patterns using a mechanised hydraulic or electric Jumbo drill to suit drive conditions
- Assess ground conditions at the face and implement good ground control according to site requirements
- Read and accurately follow mine instruction plans, ensuring holes are drilled to design line, gradient, and profile
- Communicate with surveyors, geologists, and engineers to optimise drill patterns and meterage
- Demonstrate safe behaviour at all times and comply with site SHEC standards and procedures
- Promote awareness of SHEC practices and help embed a safety culture
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Mine Manager
About the successful candidate
- Minimum of 5 years industry experience as a Twin Boom Operator
- Experience operating twin boom Jumbos required; experience with the Twin Boom Sandvik Tamrock DD420-60C would be an asset
- Ability to read and understand designed ground support plans
- Good practical understanding of drilling and mining methods
- Sound understanding of how the equipment works on a daily basis, with a solid grasp of reading manuals and equipment information
- Ability to schedule and prioritise tasks
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Current manual driver's licence required; a positive, can-do attitude and physical fitness are expected
