Lion One Metals is a mining company developing the Tuvatu Alkaline Gold Project in Fiji. The company operates mill and mine processing operations and works closely with the Ministry of Lands, Mineral Resources Department in Fiji.

About the role

The Mill Manager will oversee Mill and Mine staff at the Tuvatu Alkaline Gold Project, including the Mill Metallurgy Technician, Mill Operations Supervisor, Process Operations Foremen, Process Control staff, and Filter Plant Operations Operator. The role supervises the Senior Metallurgist and works closely with senior Process Operations personnel to identify and implement production and cost improvements. This position also involves close coordination with Mine Engineering, Geology, and the Marketing Department regarding ore body characterization, concentrate grade modelling, and shipment quality. The Mill Manager will lead process optimisation efforts across the Concentrators, Gravity circuit, ADR, CIL, and Filter plant, and will design, cost, and manage test programs independently. This is an expat position requiring relocation to live in Fiji.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage Mill and Mine staff, including supervision of the Senior Metallurgist and related Process Operations personnel.
  • Provide daily operational support to identify, investigate, and implement production and cost improvements.
  • Develop Fijian National Staff through succession planning, technology transfer, and skills training.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot plant performance across Concentrators, Gravity circuit, ADR, CIL, and Filter plant.
  • Design, cost, and manage test programs and circuit surveys to quantify and implement process changes.
  • Coordinate recovery and concentrate grade modelling with Mine Geology, Mine Engineering, and Metallurgy teams.
  • Plan and execute technical projects within approved time frames and budgets, including managing external consultants and contractors.
  • Monitor and report on project and plant performance on a regular basis, ensuring compliance with OH&S requirements.

About the successful candidate

  • A Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in Plant or Mill Management.
  • Proven knowledge of mineral processing, particularly grinding and base metals beneficiation techniques.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Fluency in English (communication and writing).
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and creative thinking skills.
  • Supervisory and management experience with a proven track record of project work.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and solid report writing skills are desirable; an advanced degree is a plus.
