About the role
The role sits within the Mine Department at Tuvatu, Fiji, and reports to the Mine Manager. It is responsible for delivering engineering guidance across the mine site, including mine planning, production forecasting, and scheduling. The position works closely with Mine Geology, Metallurgy, and Safety teams to align production, blending, and safety outcomes. The successful candidate will also support QAQC functions and contribute to strategic planning such as annual budgets and life-of-mine forecasts.
Key responsibilities
- Lead by example in promoting a strong safety culture and collaborate with the Safety Manager on safety initiatives
- Create engineering products including mine plans, production forecasts and schedules, development and production designs, ventilation and dewatering plans
- Drive development of strategic forecasts including annual budgets and life-of-mine (LOM) plans
- Collaborate with Mine Geology and Metallurgy to align scheduling with process plant blending requirements
- Provide support for operational QAQC functions during blasting, mining, and drilling activities
- Foster communication and collaboration with mine site personnel to optimise operations
- Contribute to mining reconciliation and maintain a stope reconciliation program
- Produce or review weekly production reports covering key drivers, risks, costs, and operational plans for stakeholders
About the successful candidate
- Minimum of 5 years engineering experience in an underground mining operation
- Minimum of 5 years industry experience as a Senior Mine Engineer
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Mine Engineering
- Good practical understanding of drilling and mining methods
- Demonstrated proficiency with Deswik
- Robust understanding of ventilation and dewatering systems
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills
- Practicing member in good standing with a relevant regulatory organisation
