About the company

Abt Global implements the Fiji Program Support Platform (FPSP), a Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) investment supporting Fiji's national development priorities under the Fiji-Australia Vuvale Partnership. The Platform delivers bilateral programs across health, education, scholarships, social infrastructure, governance, climate and emergency preparedness and response, integrating gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) and climate resilience throughout. Through the Australia Fiji Health Program (AFHP), it partners with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) on a roughly AUD 45 million, nine-year program to strengthen health system planning, clinical care, digital health, medical supply chains and primary health services.

About the role

The Project Coordinator, ESP supports AFHP's objective of improved, more inclusive primary health services focused on non-communicable diseases and sexual and reproductive health. Reporting to the Health Standards Advisor, the role provides coordination, logistical and administrative support for the roll-out of the Essential Services Package (ESP) and the Minimum Service Standards (MSS) framework at five targeted facilities: Mokani HC, Dawasamu NS, Waidina NS, Baulevu NS and Naqali HC. It is the operational backbone of the ESP pilot under Intermediate Outcome 2.1, ensuring facility assessments, procurement and delivery of medicines, equipment and consumables, minor infrastructure upgrades, and monitoring and evaluation activities are scheduled, tracked and delivered on time. The position works closely with AFHP's MEL, Supply Chain, Infrastructure and Digital Health teams, and with MHMS counterparts at national, divisional and facility level. It is a locally engaged position based in Suva on a one-year contract with potential two-year extension, reserved for Fiji Nationals.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate implementation of IO2.1 micro-activities, monitor progress against the micro plan, and escalate risks, delays, and resource constraints to the Health Standards Advisor.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement logistics, including consultations, technical meetings, and facility visits with MHMS, WHO, and development partners.
  • Maintain complete and auditable project records, including meeting documentation, correspondence, assessment tools, and facility data.
  • Coordinate baseline and endline ESP/MSS facility assessments, including scheduling, logistics, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support assessment teams during facility audits through operational coordination, facility liaison, and data collection activities.
  • Coordinate implementation of patient satisfaction surveys at targeted facilities before and after interventions, in collaboration with the Health Standards Advisor and MEL Team.
  • Coordinate procurement, delivery, and distribution of essential medicines, equipment, and consumables required to address priority service gaps.
  • Coordinate and monitor minor infrastructure improvement works, ensuring delivery within approved scope, budget, and timelines.
