About the company
Post Fiji is the national postal operator, responsible for mail, parcel, and EMS services within Fiji and internationally. It manages postal logistics, cross-border services, and compliance with global postal standards such as those set by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and Asian Pacific Postal Union (APPU).
About the role
This role acts as the focal point for Post Fiji's communications with designated international postal operators, coordinating bilateral and multilateral agreements covering mail, parcels, and EMS. It involves identifying and executing international postal and logistics partnerships, cross-border e-commerce initiatives, and revenue-generating commercial agreements, while benchmarking Post Fiji against comparable postal operators. The position coordinates UPU/APPU correspondence, compliance calendars, and monitors global regulations affecting international postal operations, including customs and dangerous goods rules. It also prepares high-level briefing papers, Board papers, and international performance and partnership reports, providing strategic advice and policy recommendations directly to the CEO. The role further coordinates international digital initiatives such as Electronic Advance Data, EDI, and UPU Digital Services, and resolves international service issues including EMS failures, transit rates, and airline scheduling.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the focal point for communications with designated international postal operators and coordinate bilateral/multilateral agreements on mail, parcels, and EMS
- Identify and execute international postal and logistics partnerships, cross-border e-commerce initiatives, and revenue-generating commercial agreements
- Benchmark services against comparable postal operators
- Coordinate UPU/APPU correspondence, manage compliance calendars, and monitor global regulations (UPU, ICAO, Customs, Dangerous Goods)
- Identify technical assistance opportunities, coordinate donor-funded projects, and manage relationship reports with development partners
- Prepare executive briefing papers, Board papers, International Performance Reports, and Annual International Relations Reports for the CEO
- Coordinate implementation of international projects and provide strategic advice to the CEO
- Coordinate international digital initiatives (EAD, EDI, IPS, Customs Data Exchange, UPU Digital Services, IFS) and resolve international service inquiries, EMS issues, and airline schedule alignment
About the successful candidate
- Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Commerce, Logistics, Public Administration, Business and Management
- Higher Degree including Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in Business Administration
- At least 5 to 7 years' experience in a similar capacity and leadership role
- Working knowledge of customer-oriented strategies and operations
- Knowledge of Universal Postal Union rules, regulations and conventions
- Ability to write and present technical reports and manuals, including standard operating procedures and training materials
- Ability to manage and coordinate staff
- Understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and international accounting standards; knowledge of postal service operations and logistics is desirable
