About the role
This Engineer (Quality Assurance and Control) role owns the establishment, implementation, and monitoring of quality management systems across all engineering designs, construction activities, materials, and project deliverables. You will lead quality assurance frameworks throughout the full project lifecycle, from planning and design through procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover, ensuring compliance with approved standards, specifications, contractual requirements, and regulatory obligations. The role also involves creating a 'Centre of Excellence' to nurture project management practitioners and build knowledge of industry best practices.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain Project Quality Management Plans (QMPs) in alignment with ISO 9001 and organisational policies.
- Establish QA/QC procedures, inspection and test plans (ITPs), checklists, and control documents for infrastructure projects.
- Ensure quality requirements are clearly embedded in tender documents, contracts, and technical specifications.
- Review engineering designs, drawings, technical reports, and specifications for compliance with standards, codes, and employer requirements.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and surveillance of construction works to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and workmanship standards.
- Identify, record, and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), defects, and corrective/preventive actions.
- Lead technical quality reviews of contractor, consultant, supplier, and subcontractor deliverables to ensure compliance with contract requirements and international standards.
- Establish quality performance indicators, trend analysis, defect tracking, and management reporting systems to support evidence-based decision-making and improve project delivery outcomes.
About the successful candidate
- Degree in Civil Engineering with at least 2 years' experience in QA/QC roles, particularly in water and wastewater infrastructure, infrastructure planning, capital investment, or design projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction standards, specifications, and contract administration.
- Demonstrated experience in site inspections, testing, audits, and quality reporting.
