The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) is a corporate body established under the Water Authority of Fiji Act 2007 to manage and administer water and wastewater systems across Fiji. WAF provides quality drinking water and wastewater services to over 159,000 residential and 33,540 non-residential metered customers in urban areas, and also establishes water supply systems in rural areas.
About the role
This Technician role owns the efficient operations and maintenance of District Meter Area (DMA) and Distribution Network Services. The role ensures DMA Standard Operating Procedures are thoroughly understood and executed, and that Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and general maintenance works are delivered effectively and on time. It also involves resolving customer complaints and referrals promptly in line with the WAF Customer Charter, working in partnership with relevant staff and collaborating across WAF departments.
Key responsibilities
- Execute efficient and effective operations and maintenance for WAF District Meter Area and Distribution Networks Services
- Ensure thorough understanding and execution of DMA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) works and general maintenance works effectively and in a timely manner
- Deliver quality and timely works to address customer complaints and referrals in line with the WAF Customer Charter
- Manage and resolve customer complaints in partnership with relevant staff and collaborate across WAF departments
- Execute scheduled works including Repair & Maintenance, Operations, Upgrade, Flushing, and Cleaning of Water Mains and Appurtenances
- Prepare daily logs of all operations and maintenance activities and report to supervisor for documentation and complaint closure
- Operate power tools safely in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Procedures and address delegated referrals within 24 hours
About the successful candidate
- Certificate III in Plumbing and Sheet Metal with 3 years of relevant experience working in Water/Wastewater Networks, OR Trade Test Certificate Class III in Pipe Fitter or Plumber General with 2 years of demonstrated experience
- Knowledge of network operations and management (added advantage)
- Ability to comply with internal and external policies and legislative and regulatory requirements
- Commitment to occupational health and safety and a Zero Harm workplace culture
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with ability to contribute to team meetings and provide timely updates
