About the role

This Opex Accountant role sits within the Finance Team at the Digicel Office in Nabua, reporting to the Financial Controller - Fiji. The position is responsible for ensuring proper accountability of all OPEX functions and providing business support to Digicel Fiji Limited. Duties span PO approval controls, month-end reporting, OPEX tracking and budget vs actual reviews with market HODs/Managers, and working with the Financial Controller on process controls and cost optimisation initiatives. The role also covers budget preparation and loading into Great Plains and EPBCS, cash flow actuals and forecasting across operating, investing and financing activities, liaison with the AP team on payment timing, foreign exchange transaction analysis, quarterly audit workbook completion, bi-annual environment and climate reporting to Telstra, and contract reviews uploaded to Nomos for IFRS 16 qualification.

Key responsibilities

  • Review and approve OPEX POs in workplace twice daily.
  • Ensure that no POs are approved without budget.
  • Ensure PO Approval Timetable is always followed.
  • Month end reporting – Opex journal entries, review and update of prepayments and accrual schedule, GL Reconciliations.
  • Update OPEX Tracker weekly and circulate to the market.
  • Hold fortnightly meetings with market HODs/Managers to discuss OPEX spends vs budget.
  • Prepare the operating expenditure budget and load it into GL codes in Great Plains and EPBCS.
  • Prepare cash flow actuals and forecasts, analyse FX transactions, and complete the quarterly Audit Workbook.

About the successful candidate

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is desirable.
  • 2-3 years' experience in a similar field.
  • Hands-on experience with finance ERP systems, preferably Workplace and Great Plains.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Positive attitude and poise under pressure.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
