About the role
This role is based at EFL's Kinoya Depot and reports to the Fleet Services Manager. The Fleet Officer is responsible for keeping all EFL vehicles in good working condition and available for operational use, coordinating repairs and servicing with dealers, and supervising Fleet Support Officers. The role maintains vehicle, driver, GPS, fuel card and accident records across Strategic Business Areas, and liaises with Finance, Internal Audit and Services Delivery on fleet-related matters. It also involves diagnosing and troubleshooting light, medium and heavy-duty trucks, carrying out standby duties for breakdowns and accidents, and ensuring compliance with EFL's Finance, Fleet and Health & Safety policies.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure all EFL vehicles are in good working condition and available for operational use
- Coordinate timely vehicle repairs and servicing with dealers to minimise disruption to operations
- Monitor and supervise Fleet Support Officers to ensure smooth workflow within the Fleet Division
- Keep records of fleet operating costs, including fuel, tyres, batteries and repair & maintenance
- Maintain registers of authorised drivers, license categories, insurance, and defensive driver certificates
- Track vehicle Certificate of Fitness (COF) expiry dates and coordinate inspections in advance
- Maintain vehicle, GPS and fuel card records, and provide reports to the Fleet Services Manager
- Carry out diagnoses and troubleshooting on light, medium and heavy-duty trucks
About the successful candidate
- Completion of a Trade Certificate or Diploma in Automotive Engineering with completion of an Apprenticeship program
- A mature person with at least 3 years' experience in office administration and some garage supervisor skills will be an added advantage
- Must possess a valid Group 2 and/or 6 driving license
- Good knowledge of GPS tracking systems
- Ability to extract and analyse information from Financial Management Systems as required
- Knowledge of human resources policies, practices and procedures and ability to apply them in an organisational setting
- Strong communication, planning and organising skills
- Remains calm in stressful situations and shows persistence when faced with difficult problems
