Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) is Fiji's national electricity provider, operating power generation and distribution across the country. This role sits within EFL's thermal generation operations at the Levuka Power Station.
About the role
This Mechanical Fitter position is based at the Levuka Power Station and reports to the Team Leader Thermal Generation, with accountability to the Mechanical Technician. The role covers the efficient and economical operation and maintenance of specified power stations. It includes supervising team members and ensuring safe work procedures are followed at all times. The fitter carries out assigned work plans for operating, repairing and maintaining EFL's thermal generation sets, supports spares inventory management, and contributes to continual improvement in thermal operational activities.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out assigned work plans for operation, repair and maintenance of EFL's thermal generation sets
- Assist Technicians in prudent inventory management and control of genset and machine spares
- Support continual improvement in thermal operational activities for productivity, efficiency and asset management standards
- Inspect and test completed work to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards
- Inspect, regulate and check the functioning of installed plants and equipment in the power station
- Report changes in power station system elements or plant and ensure drawings are amended
- Check, control and account for electrical items used and follow up on replenishing stock
- Ensure proper management of specialised tools and test equipment, oversee vehicle upkeep, and maintain general upkeep of the power station and depots
About the successful candidate
- Certificate IV in Mechanical Engineering / Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution
- A minimum of four (4) years' experience (with completion of Apprenticeship or wireman's license) in power generation or a similar capacity
- A valid full Group two (2) Driving License (not provisional) is mandatory
- Physically fit with excellent planning and organizing ability
- Reliable with good communication skills
- A team player able to meet deadlines and live the EFL Values at all times
