About the role

This trainee position is based at EFL's Head Office in the Central Division and reports to the Team Leader Network Design & Planning. The role processes power supply applications and assesses electrical installation details, calculating maximum demand with reference to AS/NZS 3000:2000 Wiring Rules. It involves field visits and survey work for network extension design, developing technically sound solutions for power supply connections, and preparing cost estimates using costing software. The role also prepares customer contribution values and quotation letters for approval, coordinates project implementation files, and assists with distribution system augmentation work to maintain supply quality and reliability. It addresses safety clearance issues for power lines and carries out safety audits of the network, with Health and Safety as a top priority throughout.

Key responsibilities

  • Receive and process power supply application forms for connection approvals
  • Assess electrical installation details and calculate maximum demand per AS/NZS 3000:2000 Wiring Rules
  • Carry out field visits and survey work for network extension design
  • Design technically sound electrical solutions for power supply connections
  • Prepare cost estimates, customer contribution values, and quotation letters for approval
  • Coordinate project implementation files for power supply connection approvals
  • Assist with distribution system augmentation to maintain voltage and supply quality
  • Carry out safety visits and audits of the network, addressing clearance and relocation issues

About the successful candidate

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institute
  • Understanding of basic power system analytical techniques
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Valid full Group two driver's license (manual transmission)
