About the role
This role is based at Energy Fiji Limited's Navutu Depot in the Western Division and reports to the Metering Coordinator. The Meter Electrician 'B' inspects, diagnoses and maintains energy meters, current transformers (CT) and associated metering equipment, and scans for faulty or damaged meters, unauthorized connections and electricity pilferage. The position also measures voltage, current, power factor, and active and reactive energy, and tests metering installations under the supervision of a Meter Inspector. Other duties include using and maintaining special testing equipment such as CT analyzers, multimeters and power meters, installing domestic, commercial and CT-operated smart meters, and preparing regular and special reports. There are 7 positions available for this vacancy.
Key responsibilities
- Inspection, diagnosis and maintenance of energy meters, CT and associated metering equipment.
- Scanning for faulty and damaged meters, unauthorized connections and fraudulent use or pilferage of electricity.
- Measuring voltage, current, power factor, active and reactive energy, and testing metering installations under supervision of Meter Inspector.
- Using and maintaining special testing equipment such as CT analyzers, multimeters and power meters, and attending to metering faults.
- Installing domestic meters, cut outs, commercial meters, CT operated smart meters and upgrading metering instruments under supervision of Meter Inspector.
- Preparing regular and special reports and submitting as required.
- Driving Authority's vehicle and being responsible for its proper utilization and upkeep.
- Being available for and carrying out afterhours standby duties.
About the successful candidate
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institute with two years' relevant experience in a similar field, or Trade Certificate in Electrical Engineering with three years' relevant experience.
- Well versed with MS Word and Excel, and able to analyse data and write reports.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- A clean, valid (not provisional) driving license is essential.
