About the role

This Meter Electrician 'A' role is based at Energy Fiji Limited's Head Office in the Central Division and reports to the Meter Inspector. The position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and maintaining energy meters, CTs, and associated metering equipment, as well as detecting faulty meters, unauthorized connections, and electricity pilferage. The role involves measuring and testing metering installations, using specialised equipment such as CT analyzers, multi meters, and power meters, and installing or upgrading domestic, commercial, and smart meters. The electrician will climb EFL power poles to carry out work on service mains and cross arms, drive an EFL vehicle, and be available for standby duties.

Key responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and maintain energy meters, CT, and associated metering equipment.
  • Scan for faulty and damaged meters, unauthorized connections, and fraudulent use or pilferage of electricity.
  • Measure voltage, current, power factor, and active and reactive energy, and test metering installations to ensure correct operation.
  • Use and maintain special testing equipment such as CT analyzers, multi meters, and power meters.
  • Attend to metering faults and install domestic meters, cut-outs, commercial meters, and CT-operated smart meters, and upgrade metering instruments.
  • Climb EFL power poles and carry out works associated with service mains, service cross arms, and associated hardware.
  • Prepare regular and special reports and submit as and when required.
  • Drive the EFL vehicle and be responsible for its proper utilization and upkeep, and be available for standby duties.

About the successful candidate

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institute with one year's relevant experience in a similar field, or a Trade Certificate in Electrical Engineering with three years relevant experience.
  • Must possess a valid Electrical Wiring Person's License.
  • Well versed with MS Word and Excel, and able to analyse data and write reports.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • A clean, valid (not provisional) driving licence is essential.
