About the role
This role is based at Energy Fiji Limited's Labasa Depot and reports to the Manager Network Design & Planning. The Team Leader oversees preliminary design of rural distribution system extensions, system reinforcement and urban supply, ensuring work is completed within specified timeframes. The position leads the Planning Team, directing grid extension project file execution and completion, and is responsible for training and upskilling staff within the Design & Planning Department. The role also involves verifying and finalising technical designs and estimates prepared by Technicians, liaising with customers and contractors on electrical requirements, and ensuring compliance with safety and OHS policies.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure preliminary design of rural distribution system extensions, system reinforcement and urban supply are carried out within specified time period
- Lead the Planning Team to ensure timely output and efficient grid extension project execution and completion
- Train and upskill staff within the Design & Planning Department
- Maintain an up to date register of test equipment and safety gear, and a database of applications assessed by the Department
- Verify designs and review/finalise construction plans and preliminary designs made by Technicians
- Ensure preliminary and detailed estimates of material quantities, cost and labour are carried out within EFL's requirements
- Prepare regular, special, annual, monthly and weekly technical reports and submit to Manager on time
- Attend to customers and electrical contractors, analyse Power Supply Permit applications, and address customer complaints regarding EFL assets and power supply issues
About the successful candidate
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or higher qualification in the Electrical Engineering field
- At least seven (7) years' experience in a Design & Planning Department working as Technician Planning
- A valid Group two (2) (not provisional) driver's licence is mandatory
- Possess valid Category of Authorization in Cat A & E switching
- Good organisation skills, problem-solving skills and team management skills
