About the role
This Survey Assistant role is based at EFL's Navutu Depot in the Western Division and reports to the Manager Land Affairs. The role leads a survey team conducting field line surveys, control surveys, and topographic and cadastral surveys, while identifying EFL's surveyed boundaries. It involves processing field data, preparing survey plots and reports, and researching legal documents, survey records and land titles to clarify property boundary information. The position also oversees EFL's external survey service providers on land title surveys and is responsible for the training, timekeeping and supervision of personnel, as well as the upkeep of survey equipment and a company vehicle.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the survey team in field line surveys and control surveys
- Identify EFL surveyed boundaries and assist with topographic and cadastral surveys
- Schedule and prioritise field survey activities to ensure deadlines are met
- Process data and make calculations gathered from field work and surveys
- Record survey results and prepare survey plots in a timely manner
- Research legal documents, survey records and land titles to clarify property boundary information
- Monitor and update progress of survey work carried out by EFL's survey service providers for land title surveys
- Prepare regular and special reports, oversee timekeeping and training of personnel, maintain survey equipment, and drive and maintain a company vehicle while upholding OHS requirements
About the successful candidate
- Knowledge of surveying methods and ability to interpret drawings, plans and maps
- Knowledge of current and new surveying technologies and equipment
- Skill using surveying and computer-aided design (CAD) software
- Good mathematical knowledge, particularly in trigonometry
- Understanding of laws and legislation relating to land use and surveying
- Diploma in Land Surveying or a tertiary qualification in the surveying profession, with at least five (5) years of experience in the surveying field
- Hold a valid (not provisional) manual driver's licence
