About the role
The International Operations Officer is based at HFC Bank Head Office in Suva and reports to the Senior Manager International. This role supports the efficient, accurate and compliant delivery of the Bank's international banking operations, including processing daily international operations activities within established service standards, policies and procedures. The officer maintains transaction records, supporting documentation, registers and operational reports to ensure data integrity and audit readiness, and works collaboratively with internal departments, branches, correspondent banks and other stakeholders to resolve operational matters. The role also contributes to process improvements and the ongoing enhancement of International Operations procedures and controls.
Key responsibilities
- Executing assigned daily international operations activities accurately, efficiently and within established service standards, policies and procedures.
- Supporting the processing and administration of international and related activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness and adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements.
- Supporting the processing and administration of inward and outward telegraphic transfers, international payments and other international banking transactions.
- Initiating and maintaining transaction records, supporting documentation, registers and operational reports to ensure data integrity and audit readiness.
- Ensuring transactions are processed within applicable turnaround times and escalating exceptions, operational issues and potential risks to management.
- Supporting the effective management of operational queries, transaction investigations, payment follow-ups and related customer or internal stakeholder requests.
- Working collaboratively with internal departments, branches, correspondent banks and other stakeholders to facilitate the timely resolution of operational matters.
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in the handling of customer and banking information.
About the successful candidate
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Economics or Banking & Finance is desirable.
- A minimum of two (2) years' relevant experience in banking operations, financial services or a related environment, with exposure to international banking operations being an advantage.
- Practical knowledge of international payments and banking operations, including SWIFT inward and outward Telegraphic Transfers (TTs) or basic trade-related documentation.
- Working knowledge of core banking systems, payment platforms and digital banking channels, with the ability to adapt to new systems and technology.
- Strong attention to detail, with demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy, data integrity and quality when processing financial transactions.
- Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies, investigate issues and escalate matters appropriately.
- Basic working knowledge of relevant regulatory and compliance requirements, including Reserve Bank of Fiji (RBF) requirements, AML, CTF legislation, sanctions screening and applicable exchange control requirements.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and consistently meet operational and service standards.
