About the role

This Assistant Instructor position is qualified to teach up to level 4 Certificate (and level 6 Diploma, where applicable) in Plumbing and Sheetmetal. The role assists Instructors and Senior academics in delivering course content, conducting practical sessions, and assessing student performance in both classroom and lab settings. It also involves providing academic guidance to students and assisting in the development of educational materials and curricula.

About the successful candidate

  • Diploma/Advanced Diploma with 5 years of industry/teaching experience (or Trade Certificate FQF level 4 with at least 6 years industry/teaching experience plus License or Professional certification, where no Diploma/Advanced Diploma exists for the area)
  • Certificate in Teaching TVET (level 5)/Cert IV in Training & Assessment/National Certificate or Diploma in Tertiary Teaching
  • Desirable: more years of industrial experience (5+ years) with License or Professional Certification and higher qualification with some teaching
  • Desirable: higher qualification
  • Desirable: good teaching track record
  • Desirable: industry engagement/attachment
  • Desirable: university service (administration)
  • Desirable: community service (contributions to the wider profession)
