About the role
The Assistant IT Officer (Communications) is a Level IT 04 position based in Suva, reporting to the Manager IT. The role supports the IT function's strategic alignment with the Commission's Strategic Plan and helps ensure communications systems are managed effectively. It covers administrative IT support, network configuration, and collaboration with the IT Team to implement communications strategies.
Key responsibilities
- Provide administrative IT support and technical assistance to staff, helping to resolve hardware and software issues, and responding to service requests in a timely manner
- Effectively support the Commission's communications strategy
- Provide efficient and compliant IT services through network configuration and collaboration with the IT Team to implement communications strategies
- Provide excellent customer service to staff and stakeholders
- Manage and maintain an updated database for administrative and record keeping purposes
- Manage correspondence with staff and other stakeholders efficiently and with discretion
- Provide effective administrative planning and coordination support, including coordination of online meeting set up
- Implement and monitor the IT risk management system
About the successful candidate
- A Diploma in Information Technology/Computing is essential
- At least 1 year of continuous experience in a similar role
- Strong understanding of communications protocol and networking principles
- Excellent problem solving and analytical abilities
- Familiar with the latest communications technologies and software
- Excels in interpersonal interactions and provides outstanding customer service
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, and to work flexible and long hours
