About the role
The Finance Officer (Level FIN 03) is based in Suva and reports to the Manager Finance through the Senior Finance Officer. The role ensures accurate and timely entry of all accounting data in line with Finance Department procedures. By maintaining meticulous financial records and supporting financial operations, the Finance Officer plays a key part in upholding financial integrity and compliance across the Legal Aid Commission Fiji.
Key responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day financial, administrative and operational support in accordance with appropriate guidelines and regulations
- Ensure proper maintenance and update of financial software
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget to the Ministry of Finance and Legal Aid Board
- Monitor budgets, allocate resources, and identify and implement cost saving strategies
- Perform board of survey for all Legal Aid offices
- Develop and maintain monthly/quarterly financial reports and cash flows
- Verify bills for payments and recorded transactions, and report irregularities to management
- Oversee purchases of goods and services, stock control and reconciliation, ensuring compliance with financial rules and regulations
About the successful candidate
- Graduate Degree in Accounting and Finance from a recognized institution is essential
- Membership with FIA or CPA would be an added advantage
- Minimum of 3 years of working experience in a similar role
- Sound knowledge of Accounting Process & Rules and Regulations and structure
- Sound knowledge of the Fijian Constitution (2013)
- Practical knowledge and experience applying IFRS in work-related activities and written submissions
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with good public relations and customer service abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, multitask, and organise workload to meet strict deadlines while liaising with staff, clients and stakeholders
