About the role
The IT Assistant provides technical assistance and maintains ICT infrastructure across the Commission, supporting business applications and digital systems used in daily operations. The role covers first-level technical support, installation and troubleshooting of hardware such as computers, printers, scanners, and audio-visual equipment, and administration of user accounts, email, and access permissions. It also involves supporting Microsoft 365 and other cloud-based collaboration tools, monitoring network and system performance, and helping implement cybersecurity measures including antivirus protection, patch management, and vulnerability identification. The Assistant helps maintain data backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity arrangements, and provides technical support for the Commission's complaint management, CRM, and records systems. Additional duties include maintaining the Commission's website and public-facing digital platforms, and keeping accurate records of ICT assets, software licences, and equipment inventories.
Key responsibilities
- Provide first-level technical support for hardware, software, network, connectivity, and ICT-related issues across the Commission.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computer systems, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and audio-visual equipment.
- Support user account administration, including account creation, password resets, access permissions, and onboarding/offboarding.
- Assist in administering Microsoft 365, cloud-based services, shared drives, and other digital workplace tools.
- Monitor ICT systems, network connectivity, internet services, and ICT infrastructure to support business continuity.
- Support implementation of cybersecurity measures including antivirus protection, patch management, and vulnerability identification.
- Assist in identifying, recording, escalating, and responding to ICT security incidents and data breaches.
- Maintain accurate records of ICT assets, software licences, warranties, and equipment inventories.
About the successful candidate
- Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years' relevant experience in ICT support or a similar technical role.
- Good understanding of computer hardware, software, operating systems, and basic networking concepts.
- Experience troubleshooting ICT issues in a professional environment is an advantage.
- Knowledge of ICT security principles and data protection practices is desirable.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion.
- Culturally aware and able to work effectively in a diverse workplace.
- Proactive, adaptable, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
