About the role
This Finance Officer – Payroll role is responsible for accurate and timely processing of payroll and resolving staff issues. It reports to the Financial Controller and is based in Lautoka, Fiji. The role covers verification of staff hours, processing of pays, statutory lodgements such as PAYE, SRT and FNPF, and handling Fiji National University Levy and Fringe Benefit Tax assessments. It also involves maintaining payroll records, supporting new employee setup in the payroll system, and assisting with internal and external audits.
Key responsibilities
- Verify staff hours and process timely and accurate pays
- Ensure monthly lodgement and payment of PAYE and SRT
- Ensure monthly lodgement and payment of FNPF
- Assess and pay Fiji National University Levy and Fringe Benefit Tax
- Respond to employee enquiries related to timesheet and payroll issues
- Update payroll records by reviewing and entering changes to employee details
- Assist in setting up new employees in the payroll and benefits system, including filing and scanning payroll records
- Perform monthly payroll, identify and resolve discrepancies, and initiate journal entries
About the successful candidate
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting and Financial Management
- At least 3 years relevant experience
- Ability to multi-task and work under minimum supervision
- Strong Microsoft Office Excel skills
- Ability to work extra hours when required
- Knowledge of the Health Industry is desired
- Prior experience working with a Payroll System is desired
