About the role
This role manages procurement, including sourcing, tender and category management, and logistics operations covering inventory management, warehousing, and distribution. It has oversight of end-to-end logistics functions, ensuring efficient management of inbound and outbound healthcare supplies while maintaining service quality, compliance, and supply chain continuity. The position provides strategic advice to the Executive Team on domestic and international procurement activities, supplier management, and supply chain optimisation. It also involves preparing annual departmental budgets, business plans, and regular management reports on inventory and supply chain performance.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end procurement and supply chain function, including procurement planning, inventory control, logistics, distribution, and customs clearance
- Lead robust, transparent, and compliant tender processes for pharmaceuticals, medical consumables, equipment, and related healthcare products and services
- Develop and implement procurement strategies, tender frameworks, and business plans supporting organizational objectives and financial sustainability
- Establish and maintain effective inventory management systems, including receiving, warehousing, stock control, and distribution via the ERP/Inventory Management System
- Collaborate with the Finance team to develop financial controls, budgeting practices, and governance frameworks
- Oversee inventory reconciliation and stock control activities, including regular stock takes
- Develop and continuously review Standard Operating Procedures for procurement, warehousing, logistics, and distribution activities
- Build staff capability through coaching, mentoring, and training in procurement, inventory management, and supply chain best practices
About the successful candidate
- A University Degree in Finance, Business Management, or Supply Chain Management with a minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in procurement and logistics management within FMCG, manufacturing, healthcare, or retail sectors, or a Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply Management with a minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in the same sectors
- Professional certification and membership to a reputable procurement, logistics and/or warehouse management body is highly desirable
- Strong leadership, analytical, and organisational skills, with demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team, managing multiple activities under tight deadlines
- Excellent problem-solving capacity with sound judgment in a complex environment with shifting priorities
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills for professional interaction with stakeholders, clients, and consultants
- Vast experience in international logistics, preferably in the management of pharmaceuticals and medical consumables
- Strong supplier management experience including supplier performance and contract management exposure
- Advanced computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
