About the role

The Engineering Supervisor supports the Chief Engineer in ensuring the smooth operation of all engineering functions at the hotel, including hotel systems, plant and equipment, team management, sub-contractors, and maintenance of property structure and assets. This role covers physical building and systems maintenance and repairs, with responsibility for facility safety and compliance across mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and life safety systems in line with local, state, and federal regulations. The supervisor also manages equipment maintenance and efficiency, reporting deficiencies and stock control needs to management, and is responsible for cost management including adherence to departmental operating expenses and monitoring stock levels against budgets and profit margins.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the maintenance of the hotel's buildings, mechanical systems, electrical systems, HVAC, and life safety systems, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Assign and oversee daily maintenance tasks, ensuring thorough documentation of completed work in the property management system
  • Train, schedule, and supervise maintenance team members, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality work and performance
  • Supervise external contractors and inspect completed work for quality and compliance
  • Ensure maintenance requests, guest concerns, and emergency situations are addressed promptly and efficiently
  • Repair and maintain all hotel systems and equipment, ensuring efficiency and informing management about deficiencies and stock control needs
  • Adhere to departmental operating expenses, evaluate products for reuse, monitor stock levels, and ensure the operation runs according to budgets and profit margins

About the successful candidate

  • HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing/Gas Fitter trade qualification is advantageous
  • Sound general engineering knowledge and trade background required
  • At least 5 years in a Service Technician position or similar, with working experience in a 5-star hotel
  • A passion for hospitality and delivering memorable guest experiences
  • Ability to act with integrity and inspire others through leadership
  • A belief in teamwork and a sense of ownership and accountability
  • Brings urgency and discipline to daily tasks
