About the role

The Director of Engineering will direct the engineering and maintenance function of the resort, ensuring the safety and comfort of guests and team members and that all activities are delivered safely and in compliance with standards. The role also supports special projects and upcoming renovations across FNPF-owned IHG Hotels in Fiji. This is a hands-on leadership position covering daily engineering direction, physical operations oversight, and team development in a large, luxury resort setting. The role requires flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as operational needs demand.

Key responsibilities

• Directing daily engineering needs to ensure the right team is always on the right task
• Developing a maintenance programme that creates a safe, secure and comfortable environment for guests
• Overseeing physical operations of the hotel, including maintenance and repair, and ordering parts and supplies efficiently while minimising waste and maintaining green initiatives
• Developing the team and improving performance through coaching and feedback, and setting performance and development goals for colleagues
• Being flexible to react to ad-hoc duties requiring unexpected teamwork to complete tasks
• Supervising maintenance and engineering staff, tradespeople, and contractors in a large, luxury resort setting
• Helping ensure guest satisfaction

About the successful candidate

• A degree in Civil Engineering from a reputable tertiary institute
• At least eight+ years' experience in general building maintenance and/or construction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• International experience in a luxury resort setting is preferred
• Specialised expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields
• Level 3 EPA Certification, HVAC and refrigeration certificate, licensed plumber and/or journeyman status for electrician and carpenter may be required
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
