About the role

The Steward Guest Service Attendant operates and maintains kitchen cleaning equipment and tools, including the dish washing machine, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing station, and trash compactor. The role covers washing and disinfecting kitchen and store room areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment, and receiving deliveries with proper storage and rotation of perishables. Duties include cleaning dishes and silverware using the 3-compartment sink system, inspecting and stacking cleaned items, and re-sending soiled items for re-washing. The attendant also empties and maintains trashcans and dumpster areas, cleans and mops assigned department areas, and manages waste sorting including glass disposal and recycling. Physical requirements include moving, lifting, carrying, and placing objects up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for extended periods, and reaching, bending, twisting, and stooping.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment including dish washing machine, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing station, and trash compactor
• Wash and disinfect kitchen and store room areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment
• Receive deliveries, store perishables properly, and rotate stock
• Clean dishes using detergent, rinsing, and sanitizing chemicals in the 3-compartment sink
• Inspect, pull, and stack cleaned items; send soiled items back for re-scrubbing and re-washing
• Sort, soak, and wash/re-wash silverware; break down dirty bus tubs
• Empty and maintain trashcans and dumpster area; clean and mop assigned department areas
• Dispose of glass properly and break down cardboard boxes and recyclables

About the successful candidate

• Minimum education: Year 12 (secondary school level) is sufficient
• Basic English communication skills (speaking and understanding instructions)
• Good physical fitness, as the role involves standing, lifting, and cleaning for long hours
• Eligible for individuals with working rights in Fiji
• Able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
• Able to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods and reach overhead and below the knees
• Comfortable following safety and security policies and reporting maintenance needs or unsafe conditions
• A team player who communicates clearly and professionally with others
