About the role
This role applies paint, stain, and other finishes to resort walls, ceilings, and furniture using brushes, spray guns, or rollers, and prepares surfaces with primers or sealers before finish coats. The painter also strips, sands, wire-brushes, or blasts old finishes, protects surrounding areas with covering materials and signage, and cleans and stores tools and equipment afterward. Work includes coordinating with vendors to match or modify paint, stain, or varnish colors. The position follows company safety and security procedures, including reporting hazards or injuries and completing required safety training. Physical demands include reaching overhead and below the knee, climbing ladders, and lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, along with extended periods of standing, sitting, or walking. Duties are carried out as directed by supervisors.
Key responsibilities
- Apply paint, stain, and other finishes to walls, ceilings, and furniture using brushes, spray guns, or rollers.
- Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces for finish coats.
- Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, burning, or abrasive blasting.
- Cover surfaces for protection during painting and post appropriate paint signage.
- Clean up and store paint and painting tools and equipment in appropriate areas.
- Coordinate with vendors to modify colors of paint, stain, or varnish.
- Follow company safety and security policies, reporting hazards, accidents, or injuries.
- Support the team to reach common goals and ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
About the successful candidate
- Technical, trade, or vocational school qualification preferred.
- About 1 year of related work experience preferred.
- No supervisory experience required.
- No license or certification required.
- Able to reach overhead and below the knee, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Able to climb ladders and lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 pounds.
- Able to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
- Position open to Fiji citizens only.
