About the role

This Commis 3 role sits within the resort's kitchen team, handling food preparation and basic cooking tasks under supervisor direction. The position covers portioning, washing, weighing, and mixing ingredients, as well as preparing hot and cold dishes to recipe and presentation standards. Daily duties include setting up and breaking down the work station, serving correctly portioned food, and cleaning kitchen areas, tools, and equipment. The role also involves checking appliance and food temperatures, following safety and security procedures, and reporting any maintenance or safety issues to a manager. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, and lifting objects up to 25 pounds during a shift.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food.
• Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables; weigh, measure, and mix ingredients.
• Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist.
• Prepare cold foods and operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
• Test foods for proper doneness and monitor food quality while preparing food.
• Set up and break down the work station; serve food in proper portions.
• Wash and disinfect kitchen areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment.
• Check and ensure correct temperatures of appliances and food, and report maintenance or safety issues to a manager.

About the successful candidate

• Open to Fiji citizens only.
• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
• At least 1 year of related work experience preferred.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No license or certification required.
• Able to stand, sit, or walk for an entire work shift, and to bend, twist, and reach overhead or below the knees.
• Able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
• Comfortable working as part of a team, communicating clearly, and following safety and quality standards.
