About the role
This Porter role is based at the resort and is focused on guest arrival, departure, and luggage handling. Duties include greeting and escorting guests to their rooms, opening doors, and assisting guests and visitors as they enter or leave the property. The porter informs guests about property amenities, services, hours of operation, and local areas of interest. The role also covers arranging transportation such as taxis, shuttle buses, or limousine/sedan service, and recording advance transport requests. Physical demands include standing, walking, or moving for an entire shift, lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds unassisted (with assistance for heavier items), and navigating stairs, ramps, and uneven surfaces.
Key responsibilities
- Greet and escort guests to rooms; open doors and assist guests/visitors entering and leaving the property.
- Inform guests of property amenities, services, hours of operation, and local areas of interest and activities.
- Identify and explain room features to guests (e.g., room key, mini-bar, ice and vending areas, in-room safe, valet laundry services).
- Transport guest luggage to and from guest rooms and/or the designated bell area; assist with luggage storage and retrieval.
- Assist guests/visitors in and out of vehicles, including loading/unloading luggage.
- Supply guests with directions and arrange transportation (e.g., taxicab, shuttle bus, limousine/sedan service), recording advance transport requests as needed.
- Communicate parking procedures to guests/visitors.
- Follow company policies and procedures, and report accidents, injuries, or unsafe work conditions to a manager.
About the successful candidate
- Open to Fiji citizens.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
- No related work experience required.
- No supervisory experience required.
- No license or certification required.
- Able to stand, sit, or walk for an entire work shift and move at speed when required.
- Able to move, lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 pounds unassisted, and over 75 pounds with assistance.
- Able to move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces, including stairs and service ramps.
