About the role

The Golf Maintenance Manager leads the Greenkeeping team and all golf course maintenance operations at the resort, ensuring the course meets high standards of conditioning, presentation, safety, and playability. The role covers turf, landscaping, irrigation systems, practice facilities, and surrounding grounds, in line with Marriott Golf Standards and sound agronomic practice. Responsibilities span daily course management, quality assurance, budget and cost control, guest experience, team leadership and development, recruitment and HR processes, cross-department communication, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The manager also works closely with Golf Operations, Recreation, Engineering, Finance, and HR teams, and reports operational updates to golf and hotel leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all golf course maintenance and grounds operations including greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, roughs, and practice facilities.
• Conduct routine inspections and course tours to assess turf conditions, presentation standards, and maintenance requirements.
• Develop and implement maintenance programs and schedules that support optimal course conditions throughout the year.
• Manage departmental operating and capital expenditure budgets, controlling labor, inventory, and equipment costs.
• Champion guest experience by maintaining superior course conditions and minimising disruption to golfers.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for the Greenkeeping team, including recruitment and training.
• Ensure compliance with Marriott policies, safety procedures, and environmental regulations, including safe handling of chemicals and fertilisers.
• Coordinate course improvement projects, renovations, and development initiatives, and support golf events and tournaments.

About the successful candidate

• Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Golf Course Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Golf Course Maintenance, Greenkeeping, Turf Management, or a related field, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, landscaping practices, and agronomic principles.
• Experience managing golf course maintenance budgets and labor costs.
