About the role
This Food Stores Assistant role sits within the resort's food and beverage supply operations, handling the receiving, staging, and storage of merchandise for distribution to the correct departments. The position is responsible for checking incoming deliveries for freshness, cleanliness, and quality, rejecting any damaged or incorrect stock, and rotating perishables to reduce waste. It also covers organising and sanitising storage areas such as refrigerators, freezers, and food preparation spaces, and keeping supervisors informed of low stock levels. The assistant is expected to follow food safety and handling procedures at all times and to report any accidents or unsafe conditions. The role involves physical tasks such as standing or walking for a full shift, lifting and moving items up to 50 pounds, and working in tight or uneven spaces around the storage and delivery areas.
Key responsibilities
- Receive and stage merchandise by department, mark it for placement, and deliver it to the correct department.
- Stack received merchandise on pallets or carts and complete requisition forms for inventory and supplies.
- Notify manager or supervisor of low stock levels in a timely manner.
- Receive deliveries, store perishables properly, and rotate stock.
- Inspect deliveries and date times to verify freshness, cleanliness, consistency, and quality throughout case lots.
- Refuse acceptance of damaged, unacceptable, or incorrect items.
- Organise, clean, and sanitise refrigerators, freezers, floors, food equipment, and drains.
- Remove empty pallets, cardboard, and trash, and place them in proper storage areas.
About the successful candidate

- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- At least 1 year of related work experience.
- No supervisory experience required.
- No license or certification required.
- Able to adhere to food safety and handling policies and procedures.
- Able to stand, sit, or walk for an entire work shift and lift or move objects up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in narrow, confined, elevated, or uneven spaces as part of storage duties.
