About the role

This Cook role sits within the resort's kitchen team, responsible for preparing ingredients and cooking food to the property's recipes, quality, and presentation standards. The cook handles both hot and cold food preparation, operates kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers, and checks food and appliance temperatures for correctness. The role includes setting up and breaking down the work station, portioning and plating food, and maintaining a clean and disinfected kitchen area. The position also requires following safety and security procedures, reporting hazards or maintenance issues, and working collaboratively with the wider team to meet quality expectations. Physical demands include standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods, reaching and bending, and lifting or moving objects up to 25 pounds.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food
• Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables, and weigh, measure, and mix ingredients
• Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, and presentation standards
• Prepare cold foods and operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers
• Test foods for doneness and monitor food quality throughout preparation
• Set up and break down the work station, and serve food in proper portions
• Wash and disinfect kitchen areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment
• Check and ensure correct temperatures of appliances and food, and follow safety and security procedures

About the successful candidate

• Open to Fiji citizens only
• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
• 1 year of work experience in a similar role
• No supervisory experience required
• No license or certification required
• Able to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period or entire work shift
• Able to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
• Able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance
