About the role
This Commis 2 role sits within the resort's kitchen team, supporting food preparation and cooking across daily service. The cook prepares ingredients, cooks according to recipes and presentation standards, and maintains food quality throughout service. Duties include operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, and fryers, testing food for doneness, and checking food and appliance temperatures for correctness. The role also involves setting up and breaking down the work station, portioning and plating food, and keeping kitchen areas, tools, and equipment clean and sanitised. The cook is expected to follow safety and security procedures, maintain a professional appearance, and work collaboratively with the wider kitchen team.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food
- Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables, and weigh, measure, and mix ingredients
- Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, and presentation standards
- Prepare cold foods and operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers
- Test foods to determine if they are cooked sufficiently and monitor food quality during preparation
- Set up and break down the work station, and serve food in proper portions
- Wash and disinfect kitchen areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment
- Check and ensure correct temperatures of appliances and food, and follow safety and security procedures
About the successful candidate
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred
- At least 1 year of related work experience preferred
- No supervisory experience required
- No license or certification required
- Able to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period or entire work shift
- Able to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
- Able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance
