About the role
The Maintenance Technician - Guest Services responds and attends to guest repair requests across the resort. The role covers a wide range of technical work including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and kitchen and mechanical room equipment, along with basic knowledge of air conditioning, refrigeration, and pneumatic/electronic systems. The technician inspects and carries tools and equipment, operates shut-off valves for equipment and utilities, and uses the Lockout/Tagout system before performing maintenance work. Day-to-day duties also include minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement, troubleshooting guestroom items, and repairs to interior and exterior landscaping and sprinklers. The role requires basic computer skills for tasks such as inputting air handler schedules and adjusting temperatures, and involves physical work including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing stairs and ladders, and reaching overhead and below the knees.
Key responsibilities
- Respond and attend to guest repair requests, communicating with guests to resolve maintenance issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
- Visually inspect tools, equipment, and machines, and identify, locate, and operate shut-off valves for equipment and utilities.
- Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
- Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement, and cleanup of repair areas.
- Test, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on plumbing, electrical components, and guestroom items such as lamps, cords, and internet devices.
- Perform repairs on interior and exterior landscaping and external landscaping sprinklers.
- Communicate each day's activities and problems to other shifts using approved communication programs and standards.
About the successful candidate
- Some experience in general maintenance, exterior and interior surface preparation, and painting is preferred.
- Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is a plus.
- Basic knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge in areas such as air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, and kitchen equipment.
- Basic computer skills, including inputting air handler schedules and making temperature changes.
- Ability to move, lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to move up and down stairs, service ramps, and ladders, and reach overhead and below the knees.
- Must have working rights in Fiji.
