About the role
The Make Room Ready role sits within the housekeeping and maintenance function, responsible for keeping guest rooms, meeting rooms, and public spaces clean, safe, and guest-ready. The position owns scheduled preventative maintenance and deep cleaning operations, following property procedures and standard guidelines such as GCPM, CARE, Make Ready Team, and Perfect Room Team protocols. Duties include hands-on tasks like flipping mattresses, deep cleaning carpets, touch-up painting, and minor repairs, alongside guest-facing responsibilities such as welcoming guests and anticipating their service needs. The role requires reporting maintenance issues and safety hazards to a manager or supervisor, and involves physical work including lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds.
Key responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance in guest rooms, meeting rooms, and public spaces, including flipping mattresses, vacuuming behind and underneath furniture, deep cleaning carpet, touch-up painting, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, and inspecting grout and caulking
- Maintain, repair, and clean all guest rooms and public spaces in accordance with property preventative maintenance procedures and standard guidelines (GCPM, CARE, Make Ready Team, Perfect Room Team)
- Perform preventative maintenance on hotel equipment and miscellaneous minor repairs such as tightening loose toilet seats, changing light bulbs, and patching holes in walls
- Report any serious maintenance problems, unusual findings, or safety hazards immediately to the manager/supervisor and follow all company safety and security policies and procedures
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards and anticipate and address guests' service needs
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, and support the team to reach common goals
- Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping; move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
About the successful candidate
- High school or tertiary qualification in Cookery or Culinary Arts
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen or similar food preparation environment
- Good understanding of basic cooking techniques, food handling, and HACCP-aligned hygiene practices
- Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively within a team
- Must have legal working rights in Fiji
- Able to work on a rostered stay-on-island schedule
