About the role

The HVAC Technician is responsible for the optimal performance, maintenance, and repair of all heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems across the property. The role supports guest comfort and operational efficiency by maintaining mechanical systems, monitoring energy usage, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Duties span four areas: HVAC operations and maintenance, facilities and technical support (including electrical, plumbing, and equipment installation work), safety and compliance, and guest and team support. The technician also assists in coordinating with external contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance and large-scale repairs, and supports emergency response procedures including equipment failures and fire safety systems.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, and maintain HVAC, refrigeration, and air quality control systems including boilers, chillers, and air handling units.
• Conduct routine inspections of the mechanical plant and perform scheduled preventative maintenance to reduce downtime.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform timely repairs to restore operations efficiently and safely.
• Monitor and analyze energy and utilities usage, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Support maintenance through basic electrical wiring, equipment installation, and plumbing system repairs as required.
• Assemble, install, and maintain mechanical, electrical, and piping systems, fittings, and fixtures; calibrate controls, gauges, meters, and monitoring equipment.
• Follow safety policies including PPE use, lockout/tagout procedures, and hazardous material handling; identify hazards and maintain accurate maintenance logs.
• Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and collaborate with other departments to support operational needs.

• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical maintenance practices.
• Ability to diagnose issues quickly and implement effective repair solutions.
• Strong understanding of safety standards, compliance requirements, and risk mitigation practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively while maintaining a service-oriented and professional approach.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined or elevated spaces.
• Eligible for individuals with working rights in Fiji.
