About the role

The Air Condition & Refrigeration Technician handles the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, and associated mechanical systems across the property. The role sits within the Engineering Department and is responsible for keeping HVAC and refrigeration equipment running safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards to support guest comfort and smooth hotel operations. Work spans guest rooms, public areas, kitchens, and back-of-house spaces, including cold rooms, freezers, chillers, and compressors. The technician also manages maintenance records, spare parts inventory, and purchasing of materials, and coordinates with Engineering and other departments to minimize disruption during repairs. Safety and compliance duties include safe handling of refrigerants, routine safety checks, and reporting hazards or equipment malfunctions.

Key responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, and cooling systems throughout the property
  • Conduct routine inspections of HVAC equipment, cold rooms, freezers, refrigerators, chillers, and associated components
  • Diagnose and repair equipment faults, refrigerant leaks, and mechanical failures
  • Maintain and service guest room, public area, kitchen, and back-of-house air conditioning and refrigeration systems
  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment
  • Respond to maintenance requests, monitor spare parts inventory, and maintain maintenance records and compliance documentation
  • Coordinate with Engineering and other departments to complete repairs with minimal disruption to operations
  • Conduct routine safety checks, ensure safe handling of refrigerants, and report hazards or equipment malfunctions

About the successful candidate

  • Trade Certificate or equivalent qualification in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Mechanical Engineering, or a related trade
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in air conditioning, refrigeration systems maintenance, mechanical services, or facilities maintenance
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration equipment, chillers, cold rooms, compressors, and ventilation systems
  • Experience in hospitality, commercial, industrial, or facilities maintenance environments is advantageous
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements related to HVAC and refrigeration systems
  • Ability to read basic technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance documentation
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required; must have working rights in Fiji
