About the role
This Bar Supervisor role oversees bar and dining service at the resort on a rostered, stay-on-island schedule. The supervisor checks staff grooming and attire, coordinates the team, and monitors dining areas for seating, service, and guest wellbeing. Day-to-day duties include managing inventory and stock requisitions, handling an assigned cash bank, and communicating last call at closing time. The role also involves assisting management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and coaching bar staff, while following company safety and security procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Inspect grooming and attire of staff, and rectify any deficiencies.
- Communicate with guests, other employees, and/or departments to ensure guest needs are met.
- Ensure staff is working together as a team.
- Monitor dining rooms for seating availability, service, safety, and wellbeing of guests.
- Complete work orders for maintenance repairs.
- Complete scheduled inventories of supplies, food, and liquor and check stock to requisition necessary supplies.
- Obtain assigned bank and ensure accuracy of contracted monies, keeping the bank secure at all times.
- Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees.
About the successful candidate
- Able to communicate clearly and professionally with guests, colleagues, and departments, including answering telephones with appropriate etiquette.
- Comfortable standing, sitting, or walking for an entire work shift.
- Able to move, lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Willing to work a rostered, stay-on-island schedule.
- Experience or ability supporting hiring, training, scheduling, and coaching of bar or hospitality staff.
- Attentive to uniform, personal appearance, and adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Able to move through narrow, confined, or elevated spaces and up and down stairs or ramps as needed.
