About the role
This role supports the Director of Resort Experience in leading and managing the Resort Experience team on a daily basis. The Resort Experience team focuses on the guest journey starting from pre-arrival, delivering services that guide guests through their entire stay, handling operational needs, guest requests, reports, and local area information. The Assistant Manager assists with team rostering and helps develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the department. The role also involves supporting coworkers to ensure they understand their tasks, and maintaining professional communication standards with guests and colleagues, including phone etiquette. The position requires a hands-on approach, including standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods, and may involve moving or lifting light objects.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Resort Experience to lead and manage the Resort Experience team daily
- Create rosters for the Resort Experience team
- Assist the Director of Resort Experience to develop SOPs
- Provide assistance to coworkers, ensuring they understand their tasks
- Speak to guests and co-workers using clear, appropriate and professional language
- Answer telephones using appropriate etiquette, including timely answering, using callers' names, transferring calls appropriately, and taking and relaying messages
- Contact appropriate individuals or departments (e.g., Bellperson, Front Desk, Housekeeping, Engineering, Security/Loss Prevention) to resolve guest calls, requests, or problems
About the successful candidate
- Diploma or certificate in Hospitality Management, Tourism, Business Administration, or a related field (Bachelor's degree preferred)
- Training or certification in customer service, leadership, or front office operations is an advantage
- Knowledge of hotel reservation systems/PMS (e.g., Opera) and basic office software
- Relevant experience in a similar supervisory role
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and guest-service skills
- Self-motivated, driven and energized in a fast-paced environment
- Eligible for individuals with working rights in Fiji
