About the role
This role covers assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical and electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools. The technician works from job specifications, blueprints, and schematics, applying the National Electric Code and local codes to wiring and installation work. Day-to-day duties include diagnosing faults, connecting components such as circuit breakers and transformers, and using testing devices like ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes. The technician also responds to repair requests, carries out preventative maintenance, and tests items such as generator batteries and emergency lighting. The role includes maintaining maintenance inventory, requisitioning parts and supplies, and following company safety and security procedures, including reporting hazards and completing safety training.
Key responsibilities
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
- Inspect and diagnose malfunctioning tools, equipment, electrical systems, apparatus, and components.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Use testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes; test batteries in generators, emergency lighting, etc.
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and current National Electric Code and local codes.
- Read and follow blueprints and schematics.
- Respond to repair requests and perform preventative maintenance on tools, equipment, and appliances.
- Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies.
About the successful candidate
- Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree preferred.
- At least 2 years of related work experience.
- No supervisory experience required.
- Open to Fiji citizens only.
- Able to follow safety and security policies, report hazards, and complete required safety training and certifications.
- Able to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
- Comfortable welcoming and assisting guests, including individuals with disabilities, and communicating clearly and professionally.
- Able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects up to 10 pounds, and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
