About the role
The Licensed Electrical Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and infrastructure across the property. The role sits within the Engineering Department and supports safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all electrical assets while maintaining guest comfort and operational continuity. Duties span electrical systems maintenance, work order and inventory management, guest service and teamwork, and safety and compliance. The technician will work on distribution systems, switchboards, transformers, generators, lighting, and backup power, as well as support renovation and engineering projects. There are 4 vacant positions available for this role.
Key responsibilities
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and components throughout the property.
- Conduct routine inspections of electrical distribution systems, switchboards, transformers, generators, lighting systems, power outlets, and associated equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults, equipment failures, and power distribution issues.
- Maintain and service guest room, public area, kitchen, laundry, back-of-house, and exterior electrical systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical infrastructure and equipment, and monitor emergency lighting, backup power systems, and standby generators.
- Respond to electrical maintenance requests, manage inventory of spare parts and tools, and maintain accurate maintenance and compliance records.
- Coordinate with Engineering and other departments to minimize disruption to hotel operations and support emergencies or power outages.
- Follow safety and compliance procedures, conduct routine safety inspections and testing, and report hazards or equipment malfunctions promptly.
About the successful candidate
- Valid Electrical Technician License recognized in Fiji.
- Trade Certificate, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation, or a related trade.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical maintenance, building services, facilities maintenance, or a related field.
- Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, switchboards, generators, lighting systems, motors, control panels, and electrical protection devices.
- Experience in hospitality, commercial, industrial, or facilities maintenance environments is advantageous.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and maintenance documentation.
- Good communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with ability to safely operate electrical testing equipment and power tools.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required; must have working rights in Fiji.
