Lion One Metals is a mining company that operates the Tuvatu Alkaline Gold Project in Fiji. The company employs both expatriate and Fijian national staff across its mine and mill operations.

About the role

The Mill Manager will oversee Mill and Mine Staff at the Tuvatu Alkaline Gold Project, including the Mill Metallurgy Technician, Mill Operations Supervisor, Process Operations Foremen (Crews A, B, C), Process Operations Utilities, Process Control E/I and Coordinator, and Filter Plant Operations Operator. The role supervises the Senior Metallurgist and works closely with senior Process Operations personnel to support production and cost improvement initiatives, and coordinates with process maintenance personnel as needed. This position supervises the Metallurgy and Mining team to plan and execute technical projects and to continuously understand and improve the Mill Process and recovery methods. The role requires an expat to live in Fiji, and it is a full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Comply with all Lion One Metals and Lion One Ltd Occupational Health and Safety requirements as well as those required under the Decree of the Ministry of Lands, Mineral Resources Department Chapter 146
• Provide daily operational support to assist in identification, investigation, and implementation of production and cost improvements, working with maintenance personnel as required
• Develop Fijian National Staff and Non-Staff, including active participation in the site Succession Planning process, and ensure transfer of technology from expatriate to national employees
• Provide on-the-job training in project management and control techniques for national staff
• Interact upstream with Mine Engineering, Geology and operations personnel for ore body characterization and recovery/concentrate grade modelling and forecasting
• Interact downstream with the Lion One Marketing Department regarding concentrate shipment schedules and quality issues
• Design, cost, and manage test programs to successful completion independently and efficiently
• Work directly with Process Operations personnel on process optimisation, including monitoring recoveries and circuit performance, troubleshooting plant issues, conducting circuit test work and plant surveys, and identifying optimisation opportunities

About the successful candidate

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering or a related field
• 5 to 10 years of experience in Plant or Mill Management
• Proven knowledge of mineral processing, particularly grinding and base metals beneficiation techniques
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
• Fluency in English (communication and writing)
• Proven teamwork and a proactive, independent work ethic
• Highly developed problem solving, analytical thinking and creative thinking skills
• Supervisory and management experience, with a proven track record of project work
