About the role
The Light Vehicle Technician is accountable for the functionality and reliability of light machineries, engines, and mechanical systems within Fiji Airports' Fleet Services, reporting progress to the Manager Fleet Services. The role covers maintenance of all Fleet Assets, with performance measured against set KPIs. Safety of the Fleet Asset and its end users is a priority in all duties performed. The technician also carries out standby duties supporting operational departments such as Security, Fire, Airside, and Fleet transportation.
Key responsibilities
- Build and assemble machines or mechanical components for all Major/Minor light vehicles and equipment at Fiji Airports.
- Undertake inspection of machines, engines, and transmissions, and run diagnostic tests in accordance with Manufacturers Guidelines.
- Conduct servicing and maintenance of light vehicles aiming for maximum reliability.
- Perform effective diagnosis of breakdowns and timely repair of equipment to maximize availability.
- Perform scheduled planned preventative maintenance to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Ensure vehicle reports are completed and submitted on time, and that all vehicles under Fleet management are well maintained and serviced.
- Document breakdowns, identify root causes, and apply remedial action to resolve recurring issues.
- Carry out standby duties for operational departments including Security, Fire, Airside, Fleet transportation and standby vehicles.
About the successful candidate
- Certificate 4 in Automotive Engineering.
- At least 3 years' experience working as a Light Vehicle Technician on all makes of vehicles with a clear understanding of Modern Light Vehicle Technology.
- Clean driving record (Group 2) and valid Defensive Driving certification.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-focused approach.
- Medically and physically fit.
- Ability to work on basic, advanced, and diagnostic mechanical systems and equipment.
- Familiarity with mechanical components and their functions, with understanding of mechanical diagrams and schematics.
- Good organizational skills, problem-solving ability, and capacity to multitask under tight schedules.
