About the role
The Senior Project Controller establishes and maintains robust project controls across the Fiji Airports capital programme, covering integrated planning, cost control, forecasting, progress measurement, risk and change control, and management reporting. The role works closely with Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, Finance, Procurement, QS/Commercial and other stakeholders to ensure reliable data, consistent governance and early visibility of performance issues for management decision-making. Material issues identified through schedule health checks and forecast reviews are escalated to the Project Controls Lead and Director of Projects.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and assure integrated project schedules, baselines, milestones and critical-path logic across the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project cost performance, commitments, actuals, forecasts, cash flow, contingency and Estimate at Completion (EAC), and highlight variances and corrective actions.
- Prepare accurate weekly and monthly project-control reports, dashboards, S-curves, milestone summaries and management information for PMO and executive review.
- Establish and maintain project controls data within approved systems and registers, ensuring consistent WBS, project numbering, coding, status dates and reporting standards.
- Support change control by assessing schedule and cost impacts of variations, scope changes, delays and emerging risks, and maintain auditable change records.
- Lead schedule health checks, progress verification, forecast reviews and data-quality checks, escalating material issues to the Project Controls Lead and Director of Projects.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, contractors and consultants to validate progress, update programmes, review recovery plans and improve forecast accuracy.
- Support portfolio-level planning and reporting by consolidating project information, analysing trends and providing forward-looking advice on delivery, budget and resource constraints.
About the successful candidate
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant project controls, planning, scheduling, cost control or programme reporting experience, preferably within infrastructure, aviation, transport, utilities or major capital works.
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining integrated schedules and analysing critical path, float, progress and forecast dates.
- Strong understanding of project cost control, commitments, forecasting, cash flow, EAC, change control and variance analysis.
- Experience reviewing contractor/consultant programmes, progress updates, recovery plans and time impacts.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong capability in project scheduling/reporting tools such as Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project; experience with Power BI, PMIS/Unifier, Wrike or SharePoint is highly desirable.
- Good understanding of project governance, procurement interfaces, risk management, contract administration and project lifecycle controls.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of management reports and presentations; a project controls certification such as PMP, PMI-SP or AACE is desirable.
